Despite going down two sets to the Capital1 Solar Spikers, Rachel Anne Daquis kept on smiling for the Farm Fresh Foxies.

Eventually, Daquis powered her way past the Solar Spikers to lead the Foxies to a thrilling reverse sweep, 18-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-12, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The veteran spiker finished with a conference-high 19 points, built on 17 attacks and two blocks, to go along with 13 excellent digs.

But more than her known scoring prowess, Daquis’ contributions go beyond the court, according to interim head coach Benson Bocboc.

“Laging nakaganyan ‘yan eh (naka-smile). Kaya ayun very positive kasi siya eh, kahit 'yung ibang tahimik nadadala nya. Tapos kahit na galit siya, naka-smile siya,” Bocboc laughingly said during the post-game press conference.

“Lagi siya nakasmile kaya ayun ‘yung kakaiba kesa sa dati. Pagdating nila dito, may renewed energy ‘yung Farm Fresh,” he added.

Despite facing many challenges in the extended conference, Farm Fresh placed itself in a good position heading into the qualifying round.

Currently sitting in sixth place, Daquis knows that their five-set comeback will be a good momentum-builder for the team.

“Good start ito going towards the quarters, so inaaim namin talaga namin tumaas ‘yung rank namin, so nakuha na namin ito pero we will never stop kasi para samin, hindi pa talaga kami solid pero papunta,” said Daquis.

“Small win ito samin na maganda ‘yung resulta, maganda ‘yung galaw so para samin okay ‘yun. Patuloy namin aaralin, patuloy namin isosolid itong team na ito kasi mahaba-haba pa ‘yung laban,” she added.

With Trisha Tubu expected to return to the team before the qualifying round, Bocboc will finally have a full roster at his disposal.

“Kapag nakumpleto kami, I think mag-iiba na itsura neto, kasi may mga nakikita tayong naging advantage ng team,” Bocboc explained. “Hintayin na lang natin kung sino makakatapat. At least, naging ready na sila paunti-unti, at least nakita na natin partially.”

Farm Fresh will await its opponent in the qualifying round, depending on the final games in the preliminary round.
