Why Alyssa Valdez is the Unquestionable Volleyball GOAT

Why Alyssa Valdez is the Unquestionable Volleyball GOAT

Her pedigree and status symbol in the sport should already be enough proof why she is the PH’s volleyball GOAT (Greatest of All Time), but if you need more reasons to back this claim, here’s three more!

KILLER INSTINCT

You don’t want to make Alyssa Valdez mad.

During Creamline’s November 5 game versus Chery Tiggo, Alyssa was given a yellow card by the referee. For those unfamiliar with what a yellow card is, it is given as a sign of a second-stage warning.

If you were watching that game and you saw Alyssa’s look before the play, you know she had to get the ball. Definitely fired up by the situation, the former Ateneo standout answered with a kill to tie the match at 29. The Cool Smasher would later win the set 32-30 to secure their slot in the semi-finals of the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference.

LEADERSHIP ON AND OFF THE COURT

Ask probably any of Alyssa’s teammates and they’ll probably rave about her leadership on and off the court. At a young age, Alyssa has always been tasked to lead her team to victories – something that she has not shied away from.

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, ALYSSA DELIVERS

2 UAAP titles, 5 PVL titles, and numerous “Best Outside Spiker” and “Most Valuable Player” awards.

Alyssa Valdez is a winner. Simple as that. Whenever her team needs a point to clinch the set or even just to grab the momentum, Alyssa always seems to deliver.

Needless to say, she is now etched in the annals of Philippine volleyball as perhaps the GOAT.
