The throwback photo shows how far they’ve come.
With the second round of Season 85 UAAP women’s volleyball drawing to a close, teams who are gunning for the top two spots in the Final Four must be feeling the pressure as they need to close out the eliminations on a high note. One of those squads who can still secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the semis are the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses. Parading an 8-3 win-loss record, they’re in a good position, but certainly cannot afford to drop the ball.
With the tension mounting, one Tigress, particularly Bernadett Pepito, probably tried to de-stress a bit by reminiscing the time when she was still a kid trying to make her mark at the Palarong Pambansa.
On her Facebook page, UST’s ace libero shared a photo of the National Capital Region team, which she was a part of back in the day. At first glance, you probably won’t recognize her, given how young-looking she was along with her teammates.
Pepito had the perfect caption for the post as she dubbed it “Nene days.”
The UST crowd-favorite is the one in the middle wearing jersey number 3. Yep, Pepito wasn’t a libero before.
If you would look a little closer at the throwback pic, you’d probably identify another UAAP standout in Season 84 rookie-MVP Bella Belen. She’s the one on the far-left side wearing a bright smile for the cameras. Who knew that she’d be making history in the UAAP a few of years later?
It was a delight seeing that NCR squad’s group photo. It’s sort of a reminder that both Pepito and Belen have come a long way in their volleyball careers. It’s going to be even more special to look at as they accomplish a lot more in the years to come.
