Reigning Most Valuable Player Kevin Quiambao displays a fine performance against La Salle's fierce foe Ateneo in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball.
Kevin Quiambao reset his career high to 33 points as La Salle prevailed over archrival Ateneo, 80-65, in their second round encounter in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Quiambao tied his previous career-high of 29 points with one quarter to go before ultimately setting a new standard for himself in the wire-to-wire victory against the Blue Eagles.
The win extended the Green Archers' win streak to seven and also fanned their chances of clinching the first twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four with their 10-1 slate.
Though La Salle led most of the way, the game was only decided late in the fourth period.

Ateneo threatened a comeback when it was within single digits, 64-73, with 3:48 ticks remaining after a Sean Quitevis triple.
But Quiambao shifted momentum back to the Green Archers with a thundering dunk coming off of a timeout in the next possession to crush the Blue Eagles' hopes.
From Quitevis’ three, it was a 7-1 finish for La Salle to complete the 15-point victory.
Quiambao’s offensive output was sweetened by a double-double as he also had 13 rebounds that went along with two assists and a steal.
The reigning Most Valuable Player earned the winner's spotlight even as Ateneo ace rookie Jared Bahay also had a career night for himself with 22 points on 8-for-15 shooting. He also had two rebounds and four assists.
Both Quiambao and Bahay were the only players in double figures for their respective teams.
The Blue Eagles slipped to 3-7.
