The last time The UE Red Warriors beat the NU Bulldogs in the men’s volleyball tournament was in Season 80 second round way back in 2018.
Still waiting for their breakthrough this UAAP Season 87 are the UE Red Warriors.
But another crack of a first win in the men’s volleyball tournament await Joefe Aceron and Co., this time figuring against the four-time defending champion NU Bulldogs in a 12:00 p.m. duel, Saturday, March 1 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
UE dropped their third straight game — and 10th match overall dating back to Season 86 — in a four-set loss to the Adamson Soaring Falcons, becoming the only team to have yet to win a game.
Steve Aligayon fired 23 points built on 20 attacks, two blocks, and one ace in that game while Roy Piojo contributed 17 markers but the Red Warriors fell flat after securing the opening set.
Currently, the Red Warriors occupy the last place in the team standings with a 0-3 start.
However, much like UE, NU is coming off a stunning straight loss to league-leaders FEU Tamaraws and the Recto-based squad look to seize the opportunity and pound on the wounded Bulldogs side.
