Angel Canino unleashed a Herculean effort before being rushed out of the venue in an ambulance as she willed the DLSU Lady Spikers to the victory over the UST Golden Tigresses, 15-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-21, 16-14, in a grueling five-setter in UAAP Season 87 Saturday.

Canino scored 27 points, to go along with 13 excellent digs and 13 excellent receptions before being escorted out of the playing court immediately after the final point. The former Rookie-MVP was rushed to an ambulance outside of the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Canino was entangled with teammate Shevana Laput in set 4 where she was hit by Laput’s knee in the neck area. This was what is expected to be checked in the hospital, as per assistant coach Noel Orcullo after the match.

La Salle successfully clawed themselves back from being down 1-2 thanks to Canino’s efforts, which also bagged her Player of the Game efforts.

Laput, who is second in the MVP race after the first round, had 16 markers in La Salle’s 6th win of the season.

The UST Golden Tigresses, meanwhile, are losers of three straight games for the first time since UAAP Season 80.

UST hobbles to a 5-4 record with this latest loss.
