This pickup tradition is back again featuring notable Cebuano cagers.
There’s something about Cebuanos and their knack to excel in basketball.
After Dondon Hontiveros, SMB’s June Mar Fajardo and TNT’s RR Pogoy have been representing Cebu well in the PBA. And fans might not have to wait that long for another Cebuano basketball star.

Pogoy recently gave some lessons to some of the UAAP’s notable Cebuano players. This includes the likes of Ateneo’s Season 86 captain Sean Quitevis, UST’s young star Nic Cabañero, and NU’s rising guard Patrick Yu.

These tips from Kuya RR will come in handy for these youngsters who are trying to make their presence felt in the collegiate ranks. Think Cabañero with a smooth fadeaway just like Pogoy — or Quitevis with some solid three-point shooting.

The Cebuanos have been running a series of pickup games featuring stars from all levels, resembling the pro-am Drew League based in Los Angeles, USA. This Cebu version is initiated by local businessman Chase Cokaliong. Pogoy was also part of a recent pickup game, which was deemed the most star-studded in a while. That game featured NU's Steve Nash Enriquez, DLSU’s Isaiah Blanco, and Arellano University’s Shane Menina.
Cebuanos are known to be fighters and that has been showing whenever they step on the court. It's no wonder that part of their routine is to work this hard during the offseason.
