Fnatic ONIC complete a dominant season with their maiden MPL Philippines crown after a thrilling a seven-game series against Aurora Gaming.
Finally, the king has been crowned.
Grant “Kelra” Pillas and the Fnatic ONIC completed their dominant run in MPL Philippines Season 14 as they emerged victorious in a nip-and-tuck affair in the Grand Finals against Aurora Gaming, 4-3, at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati on Sunday, October 20.
After squandering a 3-1 lead against the league newcomers, FNOP turned the tables on RORA with a dramatic team fight pushed up against their base, wiping out all but Jan Dominic “Domeng” Delmundo on the side of their foes.
With a 5v1 advantage, FNOP pounced on RORA’s base as the latter had no choice but to watch.
The dramatic win came on the back of Kelra’s Finals MVP performance with Beatrix on a 4/1/4 KDA stat line, where they recovered even as RORA seized the evolved Lord near the 20-minute mark of the Game 7 decider.
FNOP, which was also carried by season MVP King “K1NGKONG” Perez, looked to dominate their series early as they seized the dominating lead.
But RORA, who have been coming out with surprises all-season long, didn’t go down without a fight led by Jonard "Demonkite" Caranto and Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo, as they fought back to force the deciding game.
High on the momentum, RORA were the aggressors in Game 7, and when they took the evolved Lord, they were quick to pounce. But with still a complete Fnatic ONIC team, they were unable to win the team fight that resulted in the comeback victory for FNOP.
This is FNOP’s first title in MPL PH, with the winning team also featuring Jann “Kirk” Gutierrez, Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez, Borris “Brusko” Parro, and Brian “SpiderMilez” Santos.
