The Olympic gold medalist finds the time to get more uniformed personnel into weightlifting.
"Weightlifting is for everyone."
Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz showed just that as she and husband-coach Julius Naranjo taught weightlifting to several servicemen.
Diaz is a second lieutenant in the Philippine Air Force.
She shared Instagram stories of the session on Wednesday, showing Naranjo teaching the proper weightlifting form to members of the air force, army, police, coast guard, and jail management and penology.
While Naranjo was in front showing them how to do the poses for snatch and clean and jerk, assistants were spotting to make adjustments. Take note, no actual weights yet.
"And we have fun," Diaz shared.
The couple has been advocating for the sport, especially with their Weightlifting Academy, where even kids can lift weights.
After winning the world championship at the -55 kg category last January, Diaz is aiming for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This is definitely a challenge for the Pinay, as the organizers removed the weight category Diaz won in and she would have to move up to the 59 kg division.
