Only two more wins for SGA to reclaim the Dubai crown.
The redemption tour continues for Strong Group Athletics (SGA) after taking down Morocco’s AS Sale, 92-80, in the quarterfinals of the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Championship on Saturday (PHL).
Strong Group weathered a strong start by AS Sale, and then went on a 19-2 second-quarter run to build a double-digit lead.
The Philippine-backed squad managed to keep their lead throughout the game despite the Moroccan side's mini-runs as they secured their semifinals ticket, marking an official improvement from last year's campaign.
SGA had another balanced outing led by Andre Roberson with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Dwight Howard and Mckenzie Moore added 17 points apiece.
Kevin Quiambao also continued his stellar Dubai stint, finishing with 15 points, two rebounds, and five assists.
Strong Group will face Sports Club Beirut in the semifinals, a team they beat by 22 points in the group stage of the tournament.
The crucial match is set for Sunday, 1:15 a.m. Manila time.
