Chino Trinidad, veteran sports journalist and former basketball commissioner, died at age 56.
Veteran sports journalist Manolo “Chino” Trinidad died on Saturday, July 13. He was 56.
The news of Chino’s passing was first confirmed by his daughter Floresse to GMA News Online. Trinidad spent the bulk of his career with the network, serving as the face and voice of their sports coverage.
The son of Philippine Daily Inquirer sports columnist Recah Trinidad, Chino also served as an executive for various leagues in the country.
Most notably, Chino was commissioner for the now-defunct Philippine Basketball League from 2000 to 2010.
Earlier this year, Trinidad was also named commissioner for Sharks Billiards Association, the country’s first professional billiards league.
