Goyang Sono Skygunners’ Kevin Quiambao also shared the time when he seriously considered trying his luck in the NBA.
Kevin Quiambao’s lifelong dream of playing in the NBA continues.
Well, there’s no harm in trying, right?
“NBA is the dream for most people. Isa ako sa mga bilyon-bilyong tao na nangangarap na makapasok sa NBA,” Quiambao said in “The 6th Man Podcast” hosted by Nico Rocha and Mario Manlutac.

Quiambao also revealed he received invitations from "four to five" NBA teams for initial workouts, but refused to name the squads.
The 24-year-old cager also detailed how the thought of chasing his dream of playing for the most prestigious professional basketball league in the world started.
“First time na pumasok sa isip ko was last year when I was playing in Dubai for the Strong Group Athletics with Dwight Howard and Andre Roberson. Sinabihan nila ako na ‘Why not try [in] the NBA?” Doon nagkaroon ng spark na wala naman masama [if] mag-try ako,” Quiambao shared.

However, the two-time UAAP MVP chose to set aside his NBA dream and instead returned to play his final season with the DLSU Green Archers in Season 87.

De La Salle went on to reach the championship round in 2024, but lost to rivals UP Fighting Maroons in three hard-fought games.
"Last year, I was committed sa DLSU, so for me naman, I don't want to burn bridges with all those people na nakasama ko sa DLSU. So I think na..' sinabihan ko sila na I think I need to pass up muna dito sa NBA (dream ko) dahil, ayoko nga na masira yung relationship ko for all those guys,” the former UAAP Finals MVP bared.
He added: “So when the time na ayoko man na i-cancel yun, ayoko man na ibalewala 'yung NBA dream ko last year. Ginawa ko for the sake na for the love of the school for the love of those people."

KQ just finished his first season in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) with the Goyang Sono Skygunners.

Despite arriving during the second half of the team’s 2024-25 campaign, Quiambao provided instant impact with behind averages of 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 23 games.
Goyang, though, missed the playoffs after ending up in eight place with a 19-35 win-loss record.
The Gilas Pilipinas youngster then wasted no time and revealed in an Instagram post that he is traveling to the United States for training purposes in hopes of landing a NBA Summer League roster spot.
The annual classic is set to take place from July 10 to 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Walang talo sa pagta-try ko na ‘to,” Quiambao noted.
