Matthew Wright delivered a strong bounce-back performance, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Kawasaki Brave Thunders from falling 62-82 to the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins on the road Saturday.

With the loss, Kawasaki dropped to 1-2 for the 2024-25 B.LEAGUE season.

Kawasaki struggled out of the gate, trailing by 15 points after the first quarter.

Wright sparked a comeback attempt in the second quarter, scoring 11 points to help the Brave Thunders close the gap entering halftime.

However, Kawasaki lost momentum in the second half, resulting in their second consecutive defeat after also losing to the Akita Northern Happinets last week.

Wright finished the game with 20 points, leading the Brave Thunders in scoring after a tough start to the season, where he managed just seven points combined in the previous two games.

But despite his improved performance, Kawasaki couldn’t keep pace with Nagoya’s balanced attack, led by Takumi Saito’s 21 points and seven assists, and Scott Eatherton’s 19 points.

Kawasaki will look to regroup Sunday as Wright continues to find his groove early in the season.
