Coast-to-Coast: Grizzlies spoil Wembanyama’s block party; Warriors, Lakers back on track

A loaded 11-game NBA Thursday slate saw the Toronto Raptors end a run of futility over the Boston Celtics, a thrilling overtime ending in Philadelphia, and the Ja Morant-led Memphis Grizzlies toppling Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.


LAKERS, WARRIORS REGAIN WINNING WAYS; KNICKS SURVIVE SIXERS 

  • LA Lakers (20-17) def. Miami Heat (20-18), 117-108: LeBron James was one of three 20-point Laker scorers as LA rode a strong 63-42 second half to snap a three-game losing skid. 

  • Golden State Warriors (20-20) def. Minnesota Timberwolves (21-19), 116-115: Stephen Curry and the Warriors avoided a late-game collapse, squandering an early 24-point lead before holding off the Timberwolves. 

  • New York Knicks (27-15) def. Philadelphia 76ers (15-24), 125-119: Josh Hart registered his fifth triple-double of the season in an overtime thriller against the depleted Knicks.

  • Toronto Raptors (10-21 ) def. Boston Celtics (28-12), 110-97:  RJ Barrett posted a 22-point,10-rebound double-double in leading a Raptors stunner over the defending champions, snapping a 10-game losing skid against the Celtics. 

  • Milwaukee Bucks (21-17) def. Orlando Magic (19-20), 122-93: The Bucks are now 3-0 this over the Magic, thanks to a combined 56-point effort from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. 

  • New Orleans Pelicans (10-32) def. Dallas Mavericks (22-19), 119-116: Trey Murphy’s clutch block sealed a thrilling Pelicans squeaker that handed the Mavericks a third successive loss. 


GRIZZLIES OVERCOME WEMBY BLOCK PARTY AS ROCKETS STAY HOT 

  • Memphis Grizzlies (26-15) def. San Antonio Spurs (19-20), 129-115: Ja Morant and the Grizzlies spoiled Victor Wembanyama’s block party for a strong bounce-back win on the road. 

  • Jump with Ja: Morant dropped a double-double outing of 21 points and 12 assists, including a nasty slam over Victor Wembanyama that didn't count but made headlines. 

  • Houston Rockets (27-12) def. Denver Nuggets (24-16), 128-108: Jalen Green went off early and the Rockets never trailed against the short-handed Nuggets for a fifth straight win.

  • Atlanta Hawks (21-19) def. Chicago Bulls (18-23), 110-94: No Trae Young, no problem as Keaton Wallace stepped up in the Hawks’ third win in the last four games. 

  • Remember the Name: Keaton Wallace stuffed the stat sheet with a career-high 27 points on top of six rebounds, six assists, four steals, and four threes for a night to remember. 

  • Charlotte Hornets (9-28) def. Utah Jazz (10-29), 117-112: Mark Williams bullied his way to 30-point double-double as three other Hornet scored 20 points or more in toppling the Jazz. 

 

  • LA Clippers (22-17) def. Brooklyn Nets (14-27), 117-112: James Harden and the Clippers issued a 59-point beating of the Nets for back-to-back wins.
