Alyssa Valdez was just as stunned as any NBA fan when news broke of the shocking trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks, sending Luka Doncic to Tinseltown in exchange for Anthony Davis.

After Creamline's victory over Chery Tiggo on Thursday in the PVL All-Filipino Conference, the Cool Smashers superstar admitted she couldn’t quite picture Doncic in the Lakers’ iconic yellow and purple just yet.

“Crazy. The last time I watched Luka was when he was here for FIBA pa,” Valdez told reporters. “I don’t know, parang it’s just really weird to see him in a yellow jersey, but it’s really interesting. It was an interesting move. Well, interesting to watch Luka and LeBron together. I’m just gonna be a fan of those, so very excited to see them playing together.”

A longtime basketball fan, Valdez shared how she has followed LeBron James since his Cleveland Cavaliers days.

“Honestly, I like LeBron since nasa Cavs pa siya. I like Kobe as well, that’s a given din. Tas biglang napunta si LeBron sa Lakers, so ganda din ng progress ng pagiging [fan ng] basketball.”

Valdez also revealed that she and teammate Bea De Leon were quick to message each other the moment they saw the news.

“Grabe kami ni Bea Del. Dapat siya din ininterview niyo kasi when we had that trade, parang kami agad ‘yung nag-message. We were like stunned talaga. We didn’t know how to react. But it was, for us, an interesting move for the NBA, Lakers, and Mavs,” said Valdez.

Doncic, who led Dallas to the NBA Finals last season, will now team up with LeBron James in LA. Meanwhile, Davis, a 2020 NBA champion with the Lakers, is expected to be the new centerpiece for the Mavericks alongside Kyrie Irving.
