From limited minutes to donning the Philippine flag on her jersey, Creamline rookie Aleiah Torres is making the most of a golden opportunity at the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League.

The Fil-Canadian libero, who was picked last in the first round of the inaugural PVL Draft, spent much of her first three conferences with the Cool Smashers waiting in the wings.

With veterans Denden Lazaro-Revilla and Kyla Atienza anchoring the floor defense, chances were understandably scarce for Torres. But when Lazaro-Revilla was ruled out of Creamline’s AVC lineup, the 22-year-old rookie was more than ready to step in.

Torres wasted no time proving her worth on the international stage, tallying 10 excellent digs in Creamline’s straight-set win over Jordan’s Al Naser Club at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Sunday, April 20.

“It’s an honor to be able to represent the Philippines and also connect to my roots and my culture,” Torres shared after the match. “I’m just happy to have this opportunity.”

For the young libero, the call-up wasn’t just a reward, it was a challenge she fully embraced.

“I think I’m just trying to do my best, take it game by game, point by point,” said Torres.

“Every practice I’ve just been trying to work hard to make the Ates better and make practices competitive for them, so I’m really grateful and happy to finally be on the court for AVC," she added.

Torres and the Cool Smashers aim to complete a Pool A sweep as they take on Kazakhstan’s nine-time national champion Zhetysu VC Monday at 7:00 p.m.
