The three-time UAAP Finals MVP is flying high in Japan and getting buckets — lots of buckets.
Three years later after blazing a trail to Japan, Thirdy Ravena marked his short but fruitful stint in the B.League with a personal milestone: scoring his 1,000th point.
Ravena reached the milestone in San-en NeoPhoenix’s last game, a road loss to the Hiroshima Dragonflies. Ravena, though, was superb in defeat, scoring a team-high 22 points on an efficient 5-for-8 from the field with 2 triples. The 22 points matches Ravena’s season high and is just 4 markers shy of his B. League career high of 26 points, which he did twice last season.
“[This milestone] wouldn’t be possible without all my teammates, the trust of the club and coaching staff, and of course, all our boosters,” Ravena wrote on his Instagram. “We’re just getting started!”
And what a start it is has been for Ravena, who now has scored 1,007 points in 92 games for San-En. The B. League All-Star is currently averaging 11.8 points this season so far after his 22-point outing against the Dragonflies and is on pace to raise his scoring total for a third straight year.
As a rookie in the 2020–2021 season, Ravena played just 18 games and scored 163 total points for a modest 9.1 per game. But the three-time UAAP Finals MVP has only elevated his game since then, upping his scoring average to 11.43 last season after scoring 526 points in 46 games. This season, Ravena looks primed to eclipse those numbers as he continues to get more playing time.
The Filipino trailblazer is certainly making a case for more floor burn. Aside from scoring 11.8 points per contest, Ravena is also averaging 4.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists a game, showcasing an all-around game that will likely get him more minutes.
In that case, Ravena’s next 1,000 points might come a lot earlier.
