Paris 2024: Carlos Yulo looks to add Olympic gold to floor exercise medal collection
Carlos Yulo was is second place during the floor exercise qualifiers.

For the second time in these Olympic Games, the time is now for Carlos Yulo.

The Philippine gymnastics ace will shoot for a gold medal Saturday (Philippine time), competing in the finals of men’s floor exercise. 

Competing with seven others, Yulo is among the favorites for a podium slot especially as he qualified second with a score of 14.766 last week.

Among Yulo’s main rivals for gold is Great Britain’s Jake Jarman, who topped the qualifications with a score of 14.966. 

Jarman also aced floor exercise in the all-around finals, scoring 14.900. For comparison, Yulo scored 14.333.

Another threat is Ukraine’s Illia Kovtun, who posted a strong 14.700 for floor exercise during the all-around finals and was fourth during the qualifiers with a score of 14.533.

The other contenders for floor exercise are Rayderley Zapata of Spain, Artem Dolgopyat of Israel, Zhang Boheng of China, Milad Karimi of Kazakhstan, and Luke Whitehouse of Great Britain.

The floor exercise finals is expected to start at 9:30 p.m. (Philippine time).
