ILYSB: Do you agree with Maverick Ahanmisi's honest rankings of Filipino food?

ILYSB: Do you agree with Maverick Ahanmisi

Newly-signed Barangay Ginebra San Miguel player Maverick Ahanmisi is one of the more underrated in the PBA today.

Just in case you're unaware, he also has one of the more underrated social media accounts in the league. He regularly posts about his daily life and tries out fun trends and viral challenges. He also shows videos of himself cooking his meals.

On Tuesday, he decided to try a Filipino food blind ranking test on Instagram. He quickly begged to his fans: "Don’t take away my (Filipino) card please."

The challenge randomly shows Filipino food and requires the person to rank it from one to 10 as it goes.

Ahanmisi, who chose jersey number 00 for his Ginebra stint, quickly got his viewers hungry as he rated pork tocino at number four.

"In the morning, for breakfast? Fried with an egg, man," he said.

Balut, not surprisingly, was dropped to the bottom of the list.

"Oh no, no, that's a 10 for sure," he said.

The talented guard though might have some forks raised with his opinion on Bicol express, a dish made of bite-sized portions of pork stewed in coconut milk and chili.

"It's good, but it's not something I crave," he said, dropping it to the eighth spot.

But he's definitely a fan of bulalo.

"Oooh, that's up there," Ahanmisi exclaimed, putting it in second place.

Beef tapa was sent to the fifth place.

The Filipino-Nigerian though definitely got more Pinoy cred when he gushed about kare-kare, saying, "That's three for me!"

Chicken curry was deemed basic and got ranked at number six.

When pork sinigang appeared, all bets were off. As the familiar meme goes: ILYSB = I love you, sinigang na baboy.

"That's number one for sure," the 32-year-old Ahanmisi said.

Bistek and dinakdakan, an Ilocano dish made of various pork head parts mixed with onions and chili, finished off the list.

"I'm cool with this!" he said of his rankings.

To be honest, this wasn't a real Filipino food ranking without adobo in there. Now that would be worth a debate.

OK, we're hungry now as well.
