Seventh heaven: June Mar Fajardo adds to record MVP haul as Leo Awards kicks off PBA Season 48
PBA

For the seventh time in his illustrious career, June Mar Fajardo is the PBA’s best of the best.

The 6-foot-10 Cebuano beat out the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel pair of Scottie Thompson and Christian Standhardinger and teammate Cjay Perez to win the MVP award of PBA Season 47—and add to his record haul that now stands at seven.

Fajardo, who won the Philippine Cup Best Player of the Conference award, led the statistical race with 42.2 statistical points (SPs).

Another big winner was Maverick Ahanmisi, who became the best player of the Converge FiberXers during Season 47 and was rewarded with the Most Improved Player award. Streaky in the past, Ahanmisi developed into a consistent scoring threat at Converge while becoming its heart and soul all season long.

Ahanmisi beat out, among others, the vastly improved Jamie Malonzo, who emerged as a key cog of Ginebra's championship core, and NLEX Road Warrior Don Trollano, who turned into one of the league's most feared scorers last season.

Ironically, Ahanmisi and Malonzo are now teammates at Ginebra.

Feted as well was Converge’s Justin Arana, who bagged Rookie of the Year honors and topped a crowded field of challengers that included Ato Ular of the Blackwater Bossing and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser of NLEX.

Here are the other winners:

First Mythical Team  Cjay Perez, Scottie Thompson, June Mar Fajardo, Jamie Malonzo, and Christian Standhardinger

Second Mythical Team  Calvin Oftana, Robert Bolick, Mikey Wiliams, Calvin Abueva, and Arvin Tolentino

Samboy Lim Sportsmanship Award  Kevin Alas

All Defensive Team  Cliff Hodge, June Mar Fajardo, Chritstian Standhardinger, Jio Jalalon, and Chris Newsome
