Some good news for San Miguel.
Despite just two games into their PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign, the San Miguel Beermen are already dealing with several injuries to their key players.
The Beermen lost two players during their crucial win over the Meralco Bolts.
Terrence Romeo, for one, had limited minutes in their game versus the Bolts as a precautionary measure for his knee.
Rookie Kyt Jimenez, meanwhile, was dealt with a facial fracture after an elbow to the face from Meralco forward Chris Hodge.
Aside from the two, other key guys like Jeron Teng, Marcio Lassiter, Vic Manuel, and Jericho Cruz were also unable to suit up for SMB.
Fortunately, one of them is nearing a return.
In his Instagram story, Cruz, who was recently awarded the PBA Mr. Quality Minutes Award, posted a photo of a basketball court where he’s seemingly been preparing for his return for the Beermen.
“Getting there,” Cruz wrote in his IG story.
In the PBA Governors’ Cup, Cruz averaged about 11.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists for San Miguel.
It’s safe to say that SMB needs Cruz’s scoring prowess and defensive intensity amid all these injuries.
If all goes well, Cruz could finally suit up in his first game this conference when the Beermen travel to Tiaong, Quezon on Saturday to take on the slumping Converge FiberXers.
