Good friends Carl Tamayo and JD Cagulangan enjoyed wins as they helped the LG Sakers and the Sonicboom, respectively, to victory in the KBL.
Carl Tamayo and JD Cagulangan both emerged victorious with the Changwon LG Sakers and the Suwon KT Sonicboom, respectively, beating separate opponents Saturday in the 2024-25 KBL season.
Tamayo’s LG Sakers drubbed defending champion KCC Egis, 83-78, at Sajik Arena to tighten their hold on the no. 2 spot in the standings, winning nine of their last 10 games.
Changwon found its rhythm in the fourth quarter as the LG Sakers ended the game on an 8-0 run.
Tamayo was one of three players in double digit scoring for Changwon, finishing with 12 points on a 5-of-11 shooting clip.
He also had four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Assem Marei paced Changwon in the victory with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. He also had eight assists and three steals.
Changwon is now at 23-14 for the year after an early-season slump.
Elsewhere, the KT Sonicboom won over the Wonju DB Promy, 83-76, to win their fifth game in the last six outings.
Cagulangan won his first game where he scored double digits for Suwon, finishing with 10 points.
He also had one rebound, four assists, and three steals.
Last year’s KBL MVP Ethan Alvano ended up with 12 points, five rebounds, and 10 assists in the losing effort for Wonju.
Suwon is now at 21-16 for the year and are at 4th. Wonju, for its part, stand at 16-21 as the DB Promy are in the midst of a five-game losing skid.
