Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel coach Tim Cone was not in the mood to talk about Gilas Pilipinas on Sunday night.

This after the San Miguel Beermen dethroned his Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel after a thrilling Game 3 win in the PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

When asked to comment about reports saying the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) will appoint him Gilas head coach, Cone said he hasn’t been informed about it.

“They haven't told me anything so hard for me to comment. But literally I did not get a call,” he said.

After leading the hastily-assembled national team to the Asian Games gold medal recently, Cone, dubbed the GOAT coach in the PBA, seemed the logical choice for the job.

“I think that's for another setting than this one, I'm not ready to talk about that,” he said.

“Kinda down at the moment, kinda upset, so I don't want to talk about something that's outside at this point.”

The SBP is looking to name a coach that will handle the team beginning in the home-and-away FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers this February.

Gilas is bunched together with New Zealand, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong in Group B.
