June Mar Fajardo also wore a mask to protect his nose after suffering an injury in San Miguel’s game against Phoenix last March 31.
It’s no secret June Mar Fajardo is a self-confessed mama’s boy.
It’s none more evident on Friday, April 5 when the San Miguel superstar wore his white Nike Air Zoom GT Jump 1 that had “MAMA” emblazoned on it in their 95-92 win over Ginebra in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup.

But it’s not actually the first time the 6-foot-10 giant made such a gesture.
“Lagi naman may 'mama' mga panlaro ko. Tribute lang kay mama,” he told One Sports after putting up 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Beermen rolled to their fourth straight win in as many outings.
Fajardo has always said his mom played a big role in the gentle giant’s development as a person and as a basketball player.
That’s why when she passed away in 2021, Fajardo almost always sees to it that he pays tribute to her.
“Oo, of course (para kay mama lahat ng laro),” said.
But the shoe was not the only thing prominent Fajardo wore on Friday as he sported a silicone mask to protect his nose.
Fajardo said an inadvertent elbow hit his nose in San Miguel’s 116-102 win over Phoenix last March 31 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. But he insisted it’s nothing serious.
“Walang namang namamatay sa ano (injury),” he said with a hearty laugh.
