The Games and Amusement Board (GAB) is also probing the shooting incident involving PBA player John Amores.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial bared this on Friday, Oct. 11, after announcing the league’s decision to ban the embattled NorthPort cager for the next conference.

Marcial said he already met with GAB chairman Francisco Rivera before releasing the league’s own penalty on Amores.

“Kausap ko kahapon si chairman Rivera, pinakita ko ang decision. Pumunta ako sa office niya. Sabi niya, OK naman 'to,” Marcial told reporters during halftime of Game 2 of the Governors’ Cup semifinal match between Rain or Shine and TNT.

GAB’s investigation is underway.

“Iimbestigahan din nila kung ano ang gagawin nila. 'Di pa natin alam pero may coordination na kami. Pinadala na natin ang letter kay chairman. Tingnan natin ano ang decision ng GAB,” Marcial added.

Meanwhile, the league has banned Amores for one conference or the entire Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup while also requiring him to submit to counselling for as long as needed.

Amores was charged with attempted homicide after firing an unlicensed gun at a 32-year-old man following a heated exchange in a pick-up game in Lumban, Laguna on Sept. 25.

According to a police report, Amores and his brother chased the victim on a motorcycle.

CCTV showed Amores alighted the said motorcycle on a highway in Lumban, walked towards the victim, then fired the gun. The latter was unharmed.

The former Jose Rizal University cager and his brother surrendered to police authorities shortly after.

The 51st overall pick in the 2023 PBA Draft and his sibling walked free after posting bail amounting to P24,000 and P10,000, respectively.
