A familiar face sat among the crowd at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Friday, Jan. 17.

 It was Mikey Williams.

Back in the country to reinforce Strong Group Athletics in the Dubai International Basketball Championship, the spitfire guard watched as his former team, Tropang Giga, battled Ginebra in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup.

He admitted missing going to battle with his TNT brothers.

“Kind of heartfelt. I want to be out there with them,” Williams said when asked what he felt seeing the Tropang Giga in action again.

“There are some things that still need to be addressed. I definitely miss them, but I love seeing them as well. I just wish I could compete with them. Only time will tell if it’s possible.”

It was his first time seeing TNT in action after leading the team to the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup title. He was adjudged Finals MVP then.

What followed that conquest was a contract dispute which ultimately resulted in his departure.

Asked whether he already made contact with the team, Williams politely refused to answer.

“No comment on that,” Williams said.
