After steering the Petro Gazz through the highs and challenges of clinching their first-ever title, Wilma Salas is back to rekindle the fire of the Angels in the upcoming 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference.
It was five years ago when the winning duo of Cuban spiker Wilma Salas and the late Janisa Johnson led the Petro Gazz Angels in dethroning the reigning Creamline Cool Smashers to their maiden PVL championship in the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference.
The stellar performance of the 6-foot-2 powerhouse import, with a PVL career-high of 37 points, made her earn the prestigious “Best Import” plum.
Now, better than ever, the 35-year-old Salas makes a rousing comeback in the PVL scene together once again with the Petro Gazz Angels ahead of their three-peat quest in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference.
Petro Gazz veteran Jonah Sabete extends a heartfelt post welcoming her former teammate.
“Welcome back, amiga! @wilmasalas,” Sabete posted in her Instagram story.

Meanwhile, team captain Remy Palma expressed her thrill at playing with Wilma.
“I’m excited to share the court with you, @wilmasalas,” Palma wrote.

And to make the trend #ThrowbackThursday more exciting, former F2 Logistics star-turned-Petro Gazz assistant coach Cha Cruz-Behag posted a throwback photo of team manager Camille Cruz with Wilma in 2019, and her previous snap with the Cuban stood out this year.
Salas will be playing with the new-look Petro Gazz under the supervision of Japanese coach Koji Tsuzurabara, along with seasoned players Remy Palma, Aiza Pontillas, Myla Pablo, MJ Phillips, and the all-Filipino Conference MVP Brooke Van Sickle.
