Three Golden Tigresses score in double-digits.
The UST Golden Tigresses may be graduating from Eya Laure's buhatera era.
On Wednesday, UST bounced back from its opening weekend loss by sweeping the FEU Tamaraws, 25-16, 28-26, 25-21.
Eya Laure, the top scorer last season, proved she still got plenty of power by making 17 points from 14 attacks, 2 blocks, and an ace, along with 5 excellent digs and 5 excellent receptions.
But this time, Laure got plenty of help with two other players in double digits. Jonna Perdido scored 12 points while Renee Peñafiel added 10 more.
All thanks to setter Cassie Carballo, who tallied 8 excellent sets, along with this emphatic point to end an extended second frame against the Tamaraws.
Carballo admits she was pressured at first to deliver, but she was reminded that UST works as a team.
"Ni-remind lang ako ng mga ate na mindset lang every game, kung ano gagawin sa mga game," she said.
The setter shared after the game that she always took care to make her spikers open, "Para 'di sila masyadong mahirapan."
"In terms of scoring, maaasahan naman lahat eh so 'di ako masyadong nahirapan. Kahit kanino ko ibigay, kaya nila i-spike."
UST, though, will be put to the test once again on Saturday, March 4, as the team faces defending champions NU Lady Bulldogs at 2 p.m.
