The Ateneo Blue Eagles have not missed the UAAP finals since coach Tab Baldwin joined the program in 2015.

In the 2016 UAAP season, Baldwin took the Blue Eagles to the finals in his debut year but fell short against the then-Ben Mbala-led De La Salle Green Archers.

A three-peat followed including a season sweep in 2019. Then last year, the Blue Eagles completed their revenge against the UP Fighting Maroons for the fourth championship under coach Tab's reign.

Despite this feat, Baldwin never took the credit all for himself.

"Let me debunk the thought that I am the architect of this program. I have an unbelievable coaching staff and we’ve grown together for eight years and we operate as a unit, we are one and so any criticisms and accolades belong to all of us," Baldwin said in an interview with One Ph's Power and Play.

Former PBA commissioner and program host Noli Eala asked about the future of Baldwin with Ateneo as the Blue Eagles prepare for their Final Four clash against the top-seeded Fighting Maroons.

"Coaches come and go. A day will come when it will be my turn to walk out the door and we’ll be fine when that day comes," he said.

"Are there any plans for that to happen in the near future? No. Not at all. My concern is UP on Saturday, and it will take care of itself."

Ateneo fans can heave a sigh of relief for now.
