The Ateneo Blue Eagles finish the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament in fifth place after defeating the Adamson Lady Falcons in straight sets on Wednesday, April 24.
Ateneo de Manila University gave a proper farewell to libero-captain Roma Mae Doromal, scoring a straight-set victory over Adamson University, 25-13, 25-17, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, April 24.
After dominant first and second set victories, the Blue Eagles had to rally past the error-prone Lady Falcons in the third to secure the sweep in just one hour and 25 minutes. Adamson committed 32 errors in the game.
Up by just one point at 21-20, AC Miner and Lyann De Guzman connected on back-to-back hits to give Ateneo a three-point lead.
AA Adolfo would get one back for Adamson, before Miner had another emphatic attack to send the game into match point.
Graduating Lady Falcon Lucille Almonte was then unable to send an attack over the net, as the Blue Eagles scored a final victory to end the season with a 5-9 record.
De Guzman led Ateneo with 14 points, while Sobe Buena and Yvana Sulit added eight and five markers, respectively, in the victory.
In her final game for the Blue Eagles, Doromal finished with nine excellent digs and six excellent receptions.
Adamson, on the other hand, ended Season 86 with a 3-11 record, with Barbie Jamili and Red Bascon finishing with just four points each.
