Jorick Bautista came up clutch for the FEU Tamaraws as they scraped by the Ateneo Blue Eagles in overtime, 66-65, for their first win of UAAP Season 87 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, September 29.

Bautista, who finished with 18 points, scored eight in the extra period. His basket to push the lead to six, 63-57, with 34 ticks remaining proved to be crucial cushion for FEU.

But the Blue Eagles went down swinging as they kept things interesting after getting within two, 62-64, with 6.2 left. Eventually, it was two clutch free throws from Mo Konateh that iced the game for the Tamaraws.

The free throws offset a Shawn Tuano three with 0.1 seconds to go that completed the final tally.

FEU snapped a five-game losing streak and the Tamaraws are now on the board with a 1-5 slate. Meanwhile, the Blue Eagles fell to 1-4 with the close loss.

The Tamaraws close out the first round on Saturday, October 5, against the UST Growling Tigers. Ateneo, meanwhile, plays UE on Wednesday, October 2, where the Eagles seek a bounce back win.
