Alohi Robins-Hardy will be taking on the role of assistant coach for the University of the Philippines women's volleyball team (WVT) for UAAP Season 87 slated for early 2025.

The Filipino-American setter already started joining Fighting Maroons practices earlier this week, as she will be tasked to oversee the growth of promising playmaker Heart Magsombol.

Robins-Hardy made a name for herself in the now-defunct PSL with United Volleyball Club-Cocolife and then with the Cignal HD Spikers. She also saw action for the national team during their bronze run in the 2019 ASEAN Grand Prix.

After heading back to the United States in 2020, Robins-Hardy decided to make a return to the Philippines, signing with the Farm Fresh Foxies for the ongoing 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference.

The PVL later asserted that the 28-year-old setter will need to first enter annual draft proceedings.

Robins-Hardy’s talent and winning experience will be a welcome addition for UP, who will be led by first-year head coach Benson Bocboc.

The Fighting Maroons will also have a revitalized roster led by Nina Ytang, Nica Celis, and Irah Jaboneta and bolstered by talented youngsters in Kianne Olango, Yesha Noceja, and Jothea Mae Ramos.

After a one-win showing last season, the Fighting Maroons are looking to finally show some improvement and get back to Final Four contention.

UP last made the Final Four back in UAAP Season 78 led by Tots Carlos and Isa Molde.
