Cheerdance Competition reigning champions aim to establish themselves as consistent contenders in Season 87.
The FEU Cheering Squad is looking to cement their status as the next powerhouse in UAAP cheerdance as they seek back-to-back titles when the UAAP Season 87 Cheerdance Competition unfurls on Sunday, December 1, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Emerging as the legitimate threat to the NU Pep Squad’s dominance, FEU has won two of the last three titles, while also finishing second in 2022 when NU claimed their 7th overall crown under decorated coach Ghicka Bernabe.

Now with a window of opportunity to play catchup to NU and other traditional powerhouses like UP and UST, the Morayta-based cheerleaders will do well to clinch another title — what would be their 5th overall.
Currently, UST and UP have eight titles each — the most in competition history — while NU, who have been the consistent contender since the early 2010s have seven.

Though lagging behind in championships, FEU has proved the most consistent program so far as they are the team with the most podium finishes with 21. They have finished eight times in second, and nine in third.
They have one more podium than UP, who come in second, with 20.
Heading into Sunday’s event, they are on a 5-season streak of a podium finish in the CDC.
FEU will have the honor of closing the competition as they perform last in the anticipated event. And being able to see their competitors perform ahead of them, the FEU Cheering Squad will be able to measure themselves up against the rest of the field.
After winning by a hair against NU in 2023, FEU will also be seeking a more convincing victory, with their Mario-inspired routine only giving them a sliver of difference — .68 to be exact — against the determined NU Pep Squad.
