The NU Lady Bulldogs continued their dominant start to UAAP Season 87 after sweeping the depleted Ateneo Lady Eagles, 25-23, 25-19, 25-15, at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan on Wednesday, February 19.

The Lady Eagles, who lost key spikers Jlo Delos Santos and Zel Tsunashima to season-ending injuries, put up their best fight against the Lady Bulldogs in the first.

However, the defending champions simply had too much firepower in the squad led by Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon.

After their close first set battle, NU dominated Ateneo in the second and third sets to secure back-to-back victories under coach Sherwin Meneses.

In the third frame, the Lady Bulldogs built a lead of as many as 10 points at 24-14 after Aisha Bello’s kill block on Lyann De Guzman.

Rookie Celine Marsh made her senior debut and even scored the final point of the game.

Alyssa Solomon led the charger for NU with 12 points on 10 attacks, one block, and one service ace.

The Lady Bulldogs will go for its third straight win on Sunday, February 23 when they take on the FEU Lady Tamaraws at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
