Chris McCullough reiterates desire to play for Gilas amid reports about players

While other players were asking for the moon to play for Gilas Pilipinas, this beloved PBA import only wanted one thing: naturalization.

Chris McCullough has always been vocal about donning the Philippine colors in international competitions since steering the San Miguel Beermen to the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup championship.

He’s not about to stop expressing his desire now, especially after reports surfaced that certain players asked for the moon to play for the then Asian Games-bound Gilas which didn’t sit well with PBA legends Marc Pingris and Willie Miller.

Responding to a tweet by @PBAinsider about allegedly one of the said players, the Jollibee Chicken Joy-loving McCullough sang the same refrain he has over the years.

“Smh, all I demanded was to be naturalized!” he said in a tweet on Sunday.

The former NBA player reiterated he didn’t care about the money.

“Was never about the money, the money will come. But still here willingly asking for an opportunity 4 years later,” he added.

Fans obviously want that, too.

@vc_onfire said wants the Philippine basketball leaders to make this happen.

“I’m hoping and praying that Boss @alfrancischua will consider naturalization of @brisskuno once @officialSBPinc gives him the key to Gilas’ future,” he said.

There’s no doubt in @jcthirdy’s mind this will come to fruition soon. After all, Justin Brownlee had to wait five years to become a naturalized Filipino.

“Maybe one more year,” the user said.

Maybe it’s about time the basketball gods hear him out. It’s nice to have a pool of naturalized players who badly want to play for the flag and country.

What do you think?
