No rest for the driven.

Coming off two preseason stints with La Salle in the past several weeks, Kevin Quiambao has now set his sights on his national duty with Gilas Pilipinas.

Quiambao just completed a grueling campaign with the Green Archers in the FilOil EcoOil 17th ECJ Preseason Cup, where they finished as runners-up after losing to modern-day rivals, the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, on Wednesday, June 12.

This came on the heels of a triumphant run in the PinoyLiga Collegiate Cup Season 3 Championship, where La Salle reigned supreme at the expense of National University on Monday, June 10.

The rigorous demands of his hectic schedule left Quiambao little room for rest.

With just a little over a week, the 23-year-old stalwart is set to train with Gilas at the Inspire Sports Academy in Laguna as buildup for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament scheduled from July 2 to 7 in Riga, Latvia.

"For me, sobrang hard ng schedule. One week lang akong out and then ayun nga diretso Gilas na nga,” Quiambao said.

The 6-foot-7 Muntinlupa native admitted that the grind is starting to wear him down, but he is not one to pass up on opportunities that come his way.

“After Gilas, di ko na alam kung kaya pa ng katawan ko pero ayun nga, naka-program naman lahat to sa mga strength and conditioning namin,” Quiambao said.

“And thankful ako sa mga opportunity na binibigay ng Gilas sa akin. Everytime naman na may collab, 100 percent ready ako."
