These girls are heading into Cambodia with a podium finish in mind.
It's either gold or bronze.
That’s what Filipinas defender Hali Long said when asked about their expectations on the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia next month.
After a bronze medal campaign in the previous edition of the biennial meet, Long said the Filipinas are eyeing another podium finish.
“For me, it’s bronze or gold,” said Hali Long on Wednesday on the sports show The Game. “You don't want to go to the finals and lose. At least my final game is in a winning squad.”
The Filipinas are coming off a stellar campaign in the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifiers where they blanked nemesis Hong Kong, 4-0, to advance to the second round.
But Long is not letting that get into their heads going into the SEA Games. The Filipinas defender knows it’s not going to be easy.
“It’s not something we’re gonna take lightly or think will come easy because the bronze definitely didn't come easy,” she said.
“But it definitely will be a goal to push ourselves and keep ourselves in the podium. But we always want to be better as every athlete wants to be.”
The team will lock horns in Cambodia before going into training camp for the FIFA World Cup.
