After an impressive and historic debut at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in July, the Filipinas have surely turned heads in the international stage.

Undeniable proof of this is defender Jessika Cowart getting high praise after signing with the Perth Glory of the A-League Women down in Australia.

Not even a week later, fellow Filipina Quinley Quezada has joined the Perth-based squad as well, bringing more of the Filipino brand of play to the A-League. The Glory announced Quezada’s signing on Friday on the team’s official website, where the 26-year-old forward was described as “a key figure for the Philippines in recent years.”

“Quinley is another player (along with fellow-new Glory recruit Jessica Cowart) whose character and football qualities I had the opportunity to witness firsthand during the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” said Glory coach Alex Epakis, who had previously worked with Quezada as part of the Filipinas coaching staff earlier this year. “She is a senior member within the Philippines women’s national team and has a strong level of versatility to her game across multiple attacking positions.”

Quezada, the Filipinas’ all-time record goalscorer, is naturally excited about joining Perth and the A-League.

“I’m very excited to be joining Perth Glory this season,” Quezada said. “Aside from Perth being a beautiful community to live in, I’ve heard so many admirable things about the club and team.”

She is also quite clear about her expectations heading into the season—and they are quite lofty.

“Personally, I want to continue learning, improving my technical skills and trying to be a leader within the team in any form that I can,” Quezada added. “I’m looking forward to joining the team and fighting for the championship!”

That will be a tall order for sure after Perth finished in sixth place with an 8-6-4 win-loss-draw record. But with Cowart and, now, Quezada in the lineup, the Glory might just be set for some A-League glory.
