The Philippine Women's National Football Team get warmed up against Finland before taking part in the Pinatar Cup in Spain.
The Philippine Women's National Football Team was bested by a formidable Finland squad in a 4-0 loss, an international friendly ahead of the Pinatar Cup in Spain.
Tahnai Annis stepped up as skipper for the Filipinas, as Hali Long served a post-match penalty from a red card received during the 19th Asian Games.
This was also the debut of Camille Sahirul as a starter.
However, plenty of rust showed on the Philippine side, as 19-year-old striker Oona Sevenius got the first of her hat-trick from a Katariina Kosola assist in the 24th minute.
Eva Nystrom made it double four minutes later, thanks to an Olga Ahtinen corner at the 28th minute.
Sevenius' long kick made it 3-0 by the 43rd minute.
Sarina Bolden was subbed in at the half, but Sevenius sealed the match with a header at the 72nd minute.
The 27th-ranked Finland created 23 shots compared to the 38th-ranked Philippines' four. Seven of the Finnish strikes were on target.
Eighty percent of the possession was strongly on Finland's side.
The friendly did provide some positive notes for the Filipinas, including the debut of promising talents Katana Norman and Alexa Pino, as well as the notable return of Dionesa Tolentin to the team.
The Philippines will regroup for the Pinatar Cup starting on Saturday, February 24. The Filipinas will first face no. 25 Scotland in the four-team mini tournament.
The winner between the Philippines and Scotland on February 24, 9:05 p.m. PHT will face either Finland or Slovenia in the Finals.
