It’s official: Bloodline rules is a go.

The Rock pinned Cody Rhodes in the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 40, setting up the special stipulation for Night 2 when Roman Reigns defends his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against the two-time Royal Rumble winner.

In a hard-hitting main event, The Rock used his status as executive to power trip his way against Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, turning the what was a traditional tag team match into practically a brawl. A final Rock Bottom and People's Elbow marked a victorious in-ring return for The Rock, who hasn't competed at WrestleMania since 2016.

Still, The Rock and Reigns had to endure a spirited fight from Rhodes and Rollins, including one where Cody hit the Rock Bottom on The Rock through the announce table.

The Bloodline also bucked some friendly fire, with Reigns accidentally hitting the spear on his cousin. This was followed up by a double Pedigree from Rhodes and Rollins before The Bloodline kicked out at two.

“Bloodline Rules” for Night 2 simply means anything goes, and the odds are further stacked against Rhodes against Reigns.

In other Night 1 results, Sami Zayn won the Intercontinental Championship from Gunther in an emotional match.

For the second straight WrestleMania, Zayn shined in Night 1, this time ending Gunther’s record reign at 666 days.

The Undisputed Tag Team titles were also split, on top of changing hands in a six-pack ladder match.

A-Town Down Under featuring Grayson Waller and Austin Theory won the SmackDown titles, after Waller first grabbed the belts, making it a milestone WrestleMania debut for the Australian.

Down the line, the Awesome Truth won the Raw belts, with R-Truth taking the titles to mark his first win at WrestleMania.

The Judgment Day certainly took a beating in Night 1, with Dominik Mysterio once again losing to his father Rey in a tag match that also featured Santos Escobar and Andrade.

Rhea Ripley made sure all was not lost for her group though, as Mami successfully defended her Women's World Championship against Becky Lynch in the show's opener.

The victory by Ripley now made it back-to-back WrestleMania wins against the famed Four Horsewomen, after beating Charlotte last year to originally take the belt.

In other non-title matches, Jey Uso beat his twin brother Jimmy in only the third WrestleMania match to feature real-life brothers, while the Big 3 of Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair, and Naomi took down the Damage CTRL with Dakota Kai and the women's tag team champions in Asuka and Kairi Sane.
