It's a battle between UP alumni as JD Cagulangan is set to face Carl Tamayo's LG Sakers in the Korean Basketball League's semifinals.
JD Cagulangan and the Suwon KT Sonicboom are headed to the semifinals of the Korean Basketball League.
The Sonicboom outlasted SJ Belangel’s Daegu KOGAS Pegasus in the winner-take-all Game 5 quarterfinals at home on Sunday, April 20.
Making up for a scoreless outing in Game 4, Cagulangan churned out 12 points, all on three-pointers. He also had four assists, a rebound, and a steal.
But it was Ha Yun-gi who starred for the Sonicboom with a double-double output of 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Moon Jeong-hyeon added 13 points, five rebounds, and two assists for the Sonicboom, who will face Cagulangan’s former UP Fighting Maroon teammate Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers in the penultimate round.
Meanwhile, former Bay Area import Andrew Nicholson paced KOGAS with 22 points and 14 rebounds he spiked with three steals and two blocks.
Kim Nak-hyeon had 14 points and four assists, while Belangel wound up with 13 points, four rebounds, five assists, and a block.
