The Philippines’ bemedaled boxing trio from Tokyo will be back for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Carlo Paalam became the latest Filipino boxer to punch his ticket to Paris after defeating India’s Sachin Siwach via unanimous decision in the men's 57kg event of the 2nd Olympic Boxing Qualification Tournament in Thailand.

The victory allowed Paalam to join fellow boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas in Paris 2024.

Among the first celebrate Paalam’s qualification was none other than Petecio, who even posted a sentimental photo of her alongside her fellow Filipino Olympic boxers in Tokyo.

“Babalik sa Olympics na mag kakasama ulit! Sobrang saya ko at pasok tayong tatlo ulit!,” Petecio wrote on her Facebook post.

Petecio, Paalam, and Marcial have become household names in the Philippines, especially after their impressive performances at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Petecio clinched a silver medal in the women's featherweight division, while Paalam and Marcial secured silver and bronze, respectively, in their categories.

Their achievements not only brought pride to the nation but also highlighted the Philippines' potential in the sport of boxing.

With the boxing trio now set to compete in Paris 2024, the Philippines eagerly anticipates more historic moments on the Olympic stage.
