Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz's see an end to their dream doubles pairing after losing to specialists Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek in the Paris 2024 quarterfinals early Thursday, August 1 (Philippine time).
Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, dubbed "NadAlcaraz" by fans, bid adieu to their doubles pairing after bowing to American doubles specialists Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 men's tennis early Thursday, August 1 (Philippine time).
Nadal and Alcaraz debuted their partnership at the Games, getting past Argentina’s Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni before dispatching Netherlands' Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof to barge into the Last Eight.
But the Spanish master and apprentice ran into Ram, a 31-time men's doubles titlist, including four in the majors with a different partner in Joe Salisbury, as well as Krajicek, who was paired with Ivan Dodig when he lifted the men's doubles trophy in Roland Garros last year.
Nadal, who exited the singles event after surrendering to Novak Djokovic, put an end to his Olympic campaign altogether. Nadal is an Olympic doubles gold medalist, prevailing in 2016 with Marc Lopez in Rio. He won the gold in singles in Beijing in 2008.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz's journey at the Games continues as he advanced to the semis after holding off Tommy Paul a day later.
