Injuries piling up on the Hotshots.
Calvin Abueva was reduced to a cheerleader when Magnolia Hotshots drubbed Blackwater Bossing, 117-83 in the PBA on Tour on Sunday.
Magnolia coach Chito Victolero bared Abueva has a knee problem and will be out for two weeks.
A source told One Sports, though, the Magnolia energizer bunny is day-to-day.
“I don’t have the proper name (for the injury), but it’s his knee,” Victolero said after their debut win in the preseason games.
But Abueva is not the only one nursing an injury. Russel Escoto also suffered an ankle injury during training, while Ian Sangalang is still regaining his full strength.
Victolero said Jio Jalalon will likely suit up next game.
Magnolia, though, hardly needed their help in dismantling the Bossing at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Eight Hotshots finished in double figures, with new guy Abu Tratter, Mark Barroca, and Jerrick Ahanmisi firing 14 points each.
James Laput had 12 points and the same number of rebounds, while Aris Dionisio scored 12 points including an emphatic throw down in transition in the final stretch. Paul Lee added 11 points on three triples.
