The Willam Jones Cup is set to make its long-awaited return.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters announced on Tuesday that they will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming 42nd William Jones Cup.
Through their social media pages, ROS also said that Gilas Pilipinas big man Ange Kouame will be joining the team as its import for the tournament, which will be held on August 12 to 20 in Taiwan.
Kouame is fresh off his Gilas training in Europe, where they played against several European nations as part of their buildup for the FIBA World Cup.
Rain or Shine, on the other hand, has been taking care of business in the PBA On Tour. The Yeng Guiao-led squad is second in the standings with a 6-2 record.
This will be the first time in about 5 years since the William Jones Cup will be held. The competition was cancelled during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to this, the Philippines, bannered by the Mighty Sports group, was hailed champions of the 2019 tournament after being led by guys like Andray Blatche, Mikey Williams, Justin Brownlee, and Jaime Malonzo, among others.
The Elasto Painters will look to carry over their current success in the PBA preseason tilt to Taipei as they hope to bring the country another gold medal in the said international tournament.
