Not the ideal debut in the PBA.
While it was Ivan Aska, June Mar Fajardo, and Chris Ross who led the charge for the San Miguel Beermen in their victory over the Meralco Bolts on Sunday in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, it was another guy who arguably drew the biggest cheers.
Of course, it's much-celebrated rookie Kyt Jimenez.
The ankle-breaking guard made his much-anticipated debut for the Beermen, tallying two points, two rebounds, and two steals in less than 13 minutes.
There was a chance he could've played more in their 93-83 win if only he wasn't forced to leave the game after getting elbowed in the face by Bolts veteran Cliff Hodge in the third quarter.
On Monday, Jimenez gave an update on his injury, reporting on Instagram that it's a blowout fracture media wall, based on the doctor's diagnosis. He noted that he got hit on the boundary of the eye and the nose.
Still, the 76th overall pick took it like a good sport.
"Welcome to the PBA talaga, TRX Nation! Salamat sa lahat ng nag-aalala, nangangamusta, at nagdadasal para sa'kin," said Jimenez, who earned the nickname T-Rex when he was a social media sensation.
As he's repeatedly said, the San Miguel neophyte also reminded his fans to shrug off the bashers.
"Mga ka-TRX, 'wag na rin po tayo makipagtalo sa iba na namba-bash pa sa injury ko, hayaan na 'yun, guys," added the 26-year-old guard.
Jimenez was so happy with officially achieving his childhood dream and making a good account of himself, that he even made a joke about his, um, unsolicited makeover.
"Mukha raw ako nakipag-one-on-one kay Boss MP," wrote Jimenez with a laugh, referring to boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.
Ross also swiftly commented on the post with a Pacquiao GIF.
As of writing, it's unknown if Jimenez will miss any games because of his injury.
The Beermen's next assignment will be this Saturday against the Converge FiberXers in Tiaong, Quezon.
