'Bring your gloves': Maverick Ahanmisi, Scottie Thompson take jab at fake news of Ginebra infighting

PBA

What's the best way to counter false claims? Barangay Ginebra San Miguel's Maverick Ahanmisi and Scottie Thompson provided a masterclass.

On Tuesday, Ginebra's new sign-up posted on Threads regarding a video claiming he walked out of practice after a disagreement with Thompson.

"Fake news! The things people do for clout, I swear," Ahanmisi said.

"Some of you want me to be the bad guy so bad lol. It's okay, every good movie needs a villain," he added.

A vlog posted six days ago, citing an unnamed "source," alleged that Ahanmisi didn't like Thompson's tone during practice, leading to the supposed walkout.

Ahanmisi decided to make things clear by "challenging" Thompson to a one-on-one.

"I guess you and I are fighting," he posted on Instagram, tagging Thompson. "See you at practice bro haha."

Scottie, playing along, said he's ready.

"Bring your gloves tomorrow, bro!" he jokingly replied.

Ahanmisi has been a victim of false information in the past, particularly when he chose not to re-sign with the Converge FiberXers. Clearly, some are still picking on him. But he's learned to just laugh off the rumors.

After the loss to the Magnolia Hotshots in last Sunday's Manila Clasico, Barangay Ginebra will try to bounce back this Friday against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
