With Jordan Adams nursing a hamstring injury, San Miguel turns to EJ Anosike as it heads to the quarterfinals in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup.
San Miguel is fielding in a new import in EJ Anosike in time for its best-of-five quarterfinal joust with Converge beginning Thursday, Sept. 26.
Anosike will replace Jordan Adams, who suffered a strained hamstring in San Miguel’s 122-112 loss to Rain or Shine last week.
Team manager Gee Abanilla confirmed this to One Sports on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
“EJ Anosike is playing for us tomorrow,” said Abanilla via text message.
Adams, once replaced by Sheldon Mac during the elimination round only to be reactivated after the latter had a subpar debut against NLEX, can no longer suit up again for the Beermen per league rule.
Anosike, a China National Basketball League Most Valuable Player, arrived in the country on Sunday, Sept. 22.
After going undrafted in the NBA in 2022, the Nigerian-American also had stops in South Korea, Belgium, and Canada.
