Roger Pogoy was instrumental in TNT’s conquest in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup, beating Ginebra in six games anew.
Last year when he was diagnosed with myocarditis, a rare heart condition, Roger Pogoy refused to sulk.
The TNT gunner was told to rest for six months and then he could return to the court again, but his eagerness to play basketball never waned.
A year later, Pogoy won his third PBA championship after the TNT Tropang Giga thumped Ginebra in six games in the Season 49 Governors’ Cup.
His triumphant return was only possible through Divine Intervention, according to the Cebuano cager.
“Masasabi ko lang, grace talaga ni Lord. Blessing ni Lord lahat ito,” Pogoy said shortly after the 95-85 win in Game 6 last Friday, Nov. 8.
“Sinabihan ako ng doctor na pahinga ako for six months, tignan kung gagaling. Nung second check up nawala lahat. Grace and blessing ni Lord lahat to.”

Pogoy was instrumental in TNT’s conquest in Game 6, going 3/4 from the three-point area, including two in the final six minutes of the match where the Tropang Giga went on a 12-0 run to finish off the Gin Kings.
His final triple to make it a nine-point game late was the icing on the cake for TNT's back-to-back Governors' Cup titles.
“Nung pumasok three points ko parnag nasa alapaap na ako e. Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam,” he said, referring to his dagger of a three with 52.8 ticks remaining that gave TNT a 94-85 edge.

He averaged 11.5 points, 3.33 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in the best-of-seven finale.
This latest milestone was nothing short of special for Pogoy, who, on the same day, celebrated his wedding anniversary with his pregnant wife.
“Dobleng celebration to kasi wedding anniversary namin ng wife ko, champion pa, buntis pa sya. Thank you Lord!” he exclaimed when interviewed by One Sports’ Apple David on the court shortly after the victory.
