The Meralco Bolts aim to sustain their momentum when they take on the TNT Tropang Giga in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday, January 7, at the PhilSports Arena.

Fresh off an 88-83 defensive battle against Eastern, Meralco snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 4-2.

The Bolts, led by coach Luigi Trillo, are gradually regaining full strength with the return of key players like Chris Banchero, Raymond Almazan, rookie CJ Cansino, and sophomore Brandon Bates.

“This break was a little bit good because we were able to have some days off. I think it’s big that we have guys back to get their feet wet – CJ [Cansino], CB [Chris Banchero], Brandon [Bates], Raymond [Almazan]. They’re going to be crucial especially since we play a lot of guys so in the next games we can use them in the rotation,” said Trillo.

Meralco will look to lean on its defensive prowess to stifle TNT’s explosive lineup led by import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson along with veterans Jayson Castro, Roger Pogoy, and Calvin Oftana.

Another win for the Bolts would solidify their position in the standings, moving one step closer to securing another playoff spot.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
